Roll-off dispatch software for Salt Lake City haulers

A street drop in Salt Lake City can take up to three permits, and the barricades have to light up. Haulers also register with the city and report on C&D jobs. Here is the short version, with the city's own pages linked.

City rules are from October 2026, from Salt Lake City MyStreet: Dumpsters and moving containers and 6 other sources. Rules and fees change, so confirm with the city before you place a can in the street.

Bring the lights

Reflective tape alone does not meet the rule here. Every street can needs four lighted Type 1 barricades, and the city does not hand them out. Put a line in the project's access notes, like "street drop, four lighted barricades," so the driver loads them before leaving the yard.

The hauler writes the diversion report

Salt Lake City asks the hauler, not only the contractor, for a post-project report on C&D jobs. In 2025 the city reviewed 157 plans, and the average reported diversion was 66%. When every load has a ticket number, net tons, and destination on the project, the report is a matter of adding them up.

Arterials

One national vendor says Salt Lake City does not allow dumpsters on arterial streets. We could not confirm it with the city. Check the street before you promise a curb drop, and use Street View on the placement map to see what you are dealing with.

The rules don't change because you have software. Keeping track of them does.

Permits on the job, with a warning

Log the permit number, who issued it, and the start and end dates on the project. If the permit ends before the scheduled pickup, the project tells you before the city does.
